E-mail Print

Six New England communities will receive technical assistance from the federal Environmental Protection Agency through the "Building Blocks for Sustainable Communities" program.

EPA-funded private sector experts will work with the communities on steps they can take to improve the environment, economy and quality of life. That includes improving pedestrian access and safety, incorporating green infrastructure or conducting an economic or fiscal health assessment.

The towns of Simsbury in Connecticut, Burlington in Vermont as well as Fall River, Holyoke, Northampton and Roxbury in Massachusetts are among 56 communities in 27 states that will receive assistance under the program.

Building Blocks for Sustainable Communities is a project of the Project for Sustainable Communities among EPA, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
