Residents within the School District of the Chathams might find the area a bit quieter when the district hosts its first Walk and Bike to School week, to be held Monday, April 23 through Friday, April 27. That’s when all of the district’s six schools will encourage students to eschew the family vehicle and instead walk or bike to school.
The event is seen as a pollution-reducing effort in honor of Earth Day and also as part of a year-long effort by parents on the Chatham Safe Routes to School Committee to reduce vehicular traffic and increase pedestrian and biker safety around schools.
